Construction Law

As New Jersey construction law attorneys, we know the importance of helping clients understand legal issues related to the supervision and design of building projects.  New Jersey’s building codes are filled with rules designed to promote safety and address overall concerns.  An understanding of construction law is not just important to builders of commercial and residential properties.  It also is crucial to architects, engineers, and various trades people.  No doubt it also impacts property owners and building occupants.

The New Jersey Law Offices of DiFrancia & Associates are familiar with the laws and regulations of the construction industry.  We are experienced in the nuances of construction law and provide legal advice tailored to particular situations and clients.

Our law firm has been involved in a number of construction projects.  We ensure that our clients meet all legal requirements for their pending jobs.  This includes evaluating provisions for workers’ compensation coverage and subcontractor assignments.

At the Law Offices of DiFrancia & Associates, we enjoy serving our clients from the inception of the project.  We help negotiate terms and draft contracts that are binding and will hold up in court.  We research local ordinances and zoning laws to ensure that plans will pass requirements.  A summary of some of other construction-related issues includes:

  • Planning and permits
  • Financing
  • Insurance coverage issues
  • Bid disputes
  • Mechanic’s liens
  • Change orders and delays

Consumer Fraud Act and Construction Law

In the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy, many New Jersey residents still have construction issues.  For some, contractors are suspected with malfeasance.  Some are as blatant as taking money for rebuilds and failing to appear.  Nearly three years after the storm that rocked the Jersey shore, it seems incredulous that some jobs remain undone.  Our dedicated attorneys also assist with these types of construction issues.

As New Jersey construction attorneys, the Law Offices of Law Offices of DiFrancia & Associates is fully familiar with New Jersey’s Consumer Fraud Act and its impact on home improvements.  We are aware that shoddy workmanship and incomplete jobs are a reality.

If a contractor you hired has failed to complete or finish work, you do have legal remedies under the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act.   It might interest you to know that in the first quarter of 2016, 51 contractors were issued violations.  As a result, they were assessed civil penalties and restitution to unhappy customers.
